Lots of exciting things happened this week in Rotary.  First of all Fred Claessens and I were guests at the Nevada County Fair Foundation meeting to get up to speed on what Rotary’s responsibilities will be at the Annual Halloween Fest on October 29th.  Fred will be looking for volunteers to come and help out with face painting, kids’ games, or selling ball drop tickets, and of course you’ll want to come in costume.  The Ball Drop Finale will take place at 5pm that day, so whether you plan to volunteer or just come out to see your ball come in the closest to the target, plan to enjoy yourself.

I had heard thru the grapevine that our local Rotaract Club was in need of some mentoring and support from our local Rotary Clubs.  So I visited with a Rotaracter this week and got a load of good information and ways we can help.  First of all, they need a new place to meet.  They only meet for business once a month, and their second meeting of the month is a social event.  So if any of you have any great ideas about a location for their business meeting, please let me know.  Secondly, they want to be more involved with the Rotary clubs in our area, so I’m sending them a copy of our calendar.  Fred may get some Rotaracters volunteering in costume at the Halloween Fest.  And lastly, they’re looking for young people between the ages of 18 and 30 to join Rotaract.  So if you know of anyone in that age group, suggest they get involved.

Remember:  Rotaracters are future Rotarians.
